About

The story

Founded in 1957 in the fertile Ribatejo plains of the Tejo river valley, the Adega Cooperativa do Cartaxo has been a steady and reliable expression of central Portugal's winemaking heart for nearly seven decades. Producing wines across the full Tejo DOC spectrum — crisp whites from Fernão Pires and Arinto, robust Castelão-based reds, and fresh rosés — the cooperative also produces aguardente and a sparkling wine that reflect its ambition to offer a complete portfolio. With generous yields from the valley's alluvial soils and a focus on value-for-money quality, Cartaxo remains a cornerstone of Portugal's domestic wine market and a trusted name in export.
