The story
Caves do Monte (founded 1992 in Sousela, Lousada) and Quintas de Caíz (a three-generation family estate in the Amarante sub-region) represent two compelling faces of Vinho Verde, both guided by winemaker António Sousa. Caves do Monte brings scale and technological excellence — a 42,000 m² facility capable of bottling 10,000 litres per hour — and a portfolio spanning fragrant Vinho Verde whites and structured Douro DOC reds under brands including Valemesio, Entre Quintas and Alma da Vinha. Quintas de Caíz, meanwhile, offers 25 hectares of high-altitude, granitic terroir above the Tâmega river, producing the mineral, precise Encostas de Caíz Alvarinho and other single-variety expressions recognised at major international competitions. Together they cover the breadth of what makes Vinho Verde so endlessly rewarding.
